ADEBOYE TO FG: Give Security Chiefs 90-Day Ultimatum to End Terrorism or Step Down

The General Overseer of the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG), Pastor Enoch Adeboye, has called on the Federal Government to issue a 90-day ultimatum to Nigeria’s security chiefs to eliminate terrorists across the country or resign from office.

Adeboye made the call in a video shared on X on Tuesday, expressing deep concern over the worsening security situation and urging authorities to take decisive action against those behind the violence and insecurity plaguing the nation.

According to the revered cleric, security chiefs must be held accountable for tangible results in the ongoing fight against terrorism.

“If I were asked to make suggestions, I would say quietly to our government: ‘Move fast and tell our security chiefs, get rid of these terrorists within 90 days or resign,’” Adeboye said.

The RCCG leader further urged the government to broaden its strategy by targeting not only terrorists but also the individuals and groups financing and supporting their operations.

“When giving orders to the service chiefs this time around, it should be made clear that they are not only to eliminate the terrorists; they should also go after their sponsors, no matter how highly placed or influential they may be,” he stated.

Adeboye recalled advising a former Nigerian president to issue a similar directive to security agencies in the past. While the order was reportedly given, he noted that it was not fully enforced after the deadline expired.

The cleric said the experience highlighted the importance of political will, strict accountability and unwavering enforcement of security directives if the country is to overcome its security challenges.

His comments come amid renewed concerns over rising incidents of terrorism, banditry and kidnappings in several parts of the country, with many Nigerians calling for stronger and more decisive measures to restore peace and security nationwide.
