The Secretary to the Ogun State Government, Mr. Tokunbo Talabi, has acknowledged the importance of maintaining a strong relationship with Ogun indigenes residents abroad
Mr. Talabi, accompanied by the Hon. Commissioner for Culture and Tourism, Mr. Olusesan Fagbayi, made the acknowledgment when members of the Ogun Indigenes’ Forum, Ghana Chapter, paid him a courtesy visit at his office in Oke Mosan, Abeokuta.
The SSG said that government recognised the important roles those in diaspora could play in the development of the State, noting that the doors would always be opened to those in diaspora as the government had always looked forward to exploring the integrated contributions of such communities into the growth and development of the State
‘’ I want to express my sincere appreciation for your commitment to the development of our State even from abroad, your expertise and collective successes are source of pride for us all. The Prince Dapo Abiodun led Administration, have been working tirelessly to ensure Ogun State remains a model of excellence and a home for all its sons and daughters, whether in Ghana or here in Ogun, you are integral to our progress’ . he said .
Also Speaking, the Hon. Commissioner for Culture and Tourism, Hon. Olusesan Fagbayi, expressed the value of having indigenes of the State who are in diaspora, but having deep-rooted interest of the State at heart, to come around and connect to their roots by bringing their experience to bear and use their resources and expertise towards the advancement of the State.
Responding, the President, Ogun Indigene Forum, Ghana Chapter, Hon. Bola Akinsanya noted that the courtesy visit represented more than a formal engagement, as it was a reflection of its commitment to preserving the cultural identity of Ogun indigenes abroad and to strengthen their connection with the home front, thus, building constructive relationships with the government and other stakeholders
Hon. Akinsanya, further added that the forum would continue to engage in activities aimed at promoting the interest and welfare of Ogun indigenes in Ghana, while supporting initiatives that would foster development and unity
He informed that by 31st October, 2026, the forum would be celebrating Ogun Day Festival and the 50th anniversary of the creation of the State in a grand style which will further strengthen the growing community of its indigenes home and abroad, while opening doors for greater diaspora participation.
