Two Kidnappers Neutralised as Police Free Ex-Minister's Sister, Children

Operatives of the Nigeria Police Force have successfully rescued Mrs. Olaide Busayo Adegoke John-Paul and her 12-year-old twin sons, Peter and Paul, following a coordinated rescue operation that culminated in a fierce gun battle with suspected kidnappers.

The victims were freed alive at about 7:30 p.m. on Saturday, June 6, 2026, three days after they were abducted along a route to their school destination.

Mrs. John-Paul, who is the younger sister of former Minister of Power, Chief Adebayo Adelabu, and her children were kidnapped at about 7:30 a.m. on June 3, 2026, while she was taking the twins to school.

Sources within the police disclosed that sustained intelligence gathering, strategic tracking, and relentless pressure mounted on the kidnappers led security operatives to the gang's hideout.

The operation resulted in a gun duel during which two suspected kidnappers were neutralised, while two firearms were recovered from the criminals.

According to security sources, the successful rescue was achieved without harm to the victims, who have since been reunited with their family.

Meanwhile, security operatives have launched a manhunt for other members of the kidnapping syndicate believed to have escaped during the operation. Some of the fleeing suspects are suspected to have sustained gunshot injuries.

The police assured that efforts are ongoing to apprehend the remaining gang members and dismantle the criminal network responsible for the abduction.
