Series #34: Dealing With the Branches of Insecurity

As citizens, community leaders, spiritual leaders, business owners, entrepreneurs, artisans, workers, students, and members of society, many of us strive daily to build a peaceful and crime-free environment. However, our efforts often end up addressing crime only at the surface level rather than uprooting it completely.

This piece focuses on the actions and attitudes that can never lead us to the root causes of the problems facing our society today.

Anyone who witnesses wrongdoing but concludes that it does not affect him or her directly is not contributing positively to this generation.

A person in whose presence a crime is committed, yet leaves everything to God without taking the necessary lawful steps, indirectly allows crime to grow.

Anyone who reports a crime but pleads that the suspect should not be touched or punished gives the offender reason to believe there is benefit in wrongdoing.

Likewise, anyone who praises evildoers, or someone who is informed about a serious offense but agrees to conceal the information from law enforcement agencies, is only dealing with crime at the branch level.

Any action that does not support exposing suspects and their accomplices is ultimately a wasted effort, because it gives room for crime to spread further.

A secure-minded individual is one who supports the exposure of crime perpetrators so that justice can serve as a deterrent to others.

Just be good. Reflect. Stay alert.
