Eid-El Kabir Celebration: Ogun Fire Services Advises Public On Preventive Safety Measures

 


The Ogun State Fire Service has urged drivers and the general public to observe strict safety measures before, during and after the Eid-el-Kabir festivities as part of the State Government’s zero-tolerance policy on disasters.

While speaking in Abeokuta, the State Director of Fire and Safety Services, Engr. Fatai Adefala, warned against storing fuel in vehicle boots and residences, just as he reminded residents to handle gas cylinders and electrical appliances with care.

Engr. Adefala, also advised both commercial and private drivers to avoid reckless driving and to replace obsolete firefighting equipment and safety materials.

He attributed the agency’s successes in disaster management to close cooperation with sister agencies, including the Nigeria Police Force, Civil Defense, Road Safety and the TRACE and the sustained efforts of fire service personnel in public education, added that regular enlightenment programmes in garages, schools, markets were also parts of the reasons why fire outbreaks were at the lowest ebb.

          The State Director urged parents, caregivers to monitor children closely and to switch off appliances when not in use, while highlighting the risks associated with improper solar installations, the Director advised homeowners, tenants and landlords to follow established installation guidelines and to engage qualified professionals for solar panel installations.

Reiterating Governor Prince Dapo Abiodun’s commitment to a zero-tolerance approach to disasters, Engr. Adefala, confirmed continued investments in essential equipment, response vehicles, recruitment of personnel and the construction of new, ultra‑modern fire stations at strategic locations across the State.

He thereafter, wished residents a safe and successful celebration and encouraged anyone experiencing an emergency to contact the State Fire Service via the Toll free line - 112.
