The Ogun State Government has provided financial relief to victims of the recent windstorm that affected the residents of Iwopin community in Ogun Waterside Local Government Area.
Presenting the cash gifts to the victims at the community town hall, the Director, Ogun State Emergency Management Agency (OGSEMA), Mr. Soji Durojaye, said the intervention was part of the Prince Dapo Abiodun administration's commitment to respond promptly and support residents whose livelihoods and properties were affected by unforeseen emergencies.
Mr. Durojaye, urged the beneficiaries to utilise the assistance judiciously, particularly towards repairing damaged structures and restoring their means of livelihood, while he further assured them that government would continue to strengthen its disaster management apparatus and response mechanisms across the State to reduce the impact of natural and human-induced disasters.
In their separate remarks, the Liken of Iwopin Kingdom, Oba Adeniyi Agbojo and Ogun Waterside House of Assembly member, Hon. Lawal Adekunle, represented by Hon. Ekundayo Owoseni, commended Governor Dapo Abiodun's effort in creating an enabling environment for the state to grow and develop economically and for his timely response and support to the windstorm victims in the area.
Responding on behalf of other beneficiaries, Mr. Bakare Sakiru and Mrs. Iyabo Adebanjo, expressed appreciation to the Ogun State Governor for the financial support, describing it as a timely intervention that would assist them in recovering from the effects of the windstorm.
