The Ogun State Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, Hon. Ganiyu Hamzat, has commended the Abeokuta South Local Government for rehabilitating and resurfacing the 1.3-kilometre Dental Junction to Kuto Road in Abeokuta.
Hon. Hamzat, gave the commendation at the commissioning of the road project in Kuto, Abeokuta, noting that good road infrastructure was critical to sustaining businesses and stimulating commercial activities within the area.
He said the intervention would strengthen the local economy, ease movement and improve the living conditions of residents, particularly traders and other businesses operating within the Kuto axis.
The Commissioner urged residents and market stakeholders to take ownership of the infrastructure by ensuring regular maintenance, noting that sustained community support was essential to preserving the road and maximising its benefits for years to come.
Speaking during the ceremony, a party leader, Chief Tajudeen Lemboye, and the Iyaloja of Kuto Market, Alhaja Isiwat Adewuyi, commended the Chairman of Abeokuta South Local Government for delivering projects that had brought the dividends of democracy closer to the people.
They described the administration's interventions as people-oriented and transparent, while praying for more wisdom and strength for the council leadership to execute more projects that would positively impact residents.
In his remarks, the Chairman of Abeokuta South Local Government, Hon. Olaniyi Balogun, appreciated the State Governor, Prince Dapo Abiodun, for his leadership, support and commitment to grassroots development.
The Council Chairman said the various projects executed by the Council reflected its commitment to addressing the immediate needs of residents and improving living conditions across communities within the local government.
"Our administration understands that good governance must go beyond promises. It must be seen and felt in the daily lives of the people. The provision of water, accessible roads, electricity and healthcare facilities directly impacts the wellbeing and economic activities of our people," he said.
The Chairman assured residents that the council would continue to identify needs across its communities and implement more people-oriented projects within available resources.
