The Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Industry, Trade and Investment, Mr. Adedeji Sowunmi, has urged workers in the Ministry to remain diligent, foster unity and strengthen teamwork to enhance service delivery.
Sowunmi, gave the charge during the Ministry’s monthly prayer meeting at its conference room in Oke-Mosan, Abeokuta, the first since his appointment as Permanent Secretary.
Accompanied by the new Director of Administration and Supplies, Mr. Wale Sonde, the Director of Commerce, Mr. Sulaimon Aminu and other members of the management team, the Permanent Secretary called on the staff to support one another and shun acts capable of creating division within the service.
Drawing inspiration from Romans 8:31, the Permanent Secretary described his elevation as evidence of God’s faithfulness, urging workers to remain committed to their responsibilities with the assurance that diligence would always attract its reward.
Sowunmi, while commending Governor Dapo Abiodun for his elevation appealed for the cooperation of the workers.
“We must be hardworking, but beyond that, we need synergy, love and unity. There should be no room for backbiting or actions that undermine the progress of the Ministry. I need your cooperation because I cannot do it alone. If we work together, irrespective of our departments, we will achieve greater results. Let us continue to support both our superiors and colleagues,” he said.
Earlier, in a sermon titled, ‘Your Wealth is with Allah and Your Effort is with You,’ a staffer of the Ministry, Mr. Lateef Busari, urged workers to remain steadfast and patient in the face of challenges.
Speaking from Qur’an Chapter 7, he said God had already made adequate provision for every individual before the manifestation of life’s challenges, stressing the need for faith, perseverance and consistent hard work.
Christian and Islamic prayers were said for the progress of the State, Ministry as well as staffers of the Ministry.
