Speaking, Director of OGSEMA, Mr. Soji Durojaye, gave the warning during an on-the-spot assessment of the fire incident that occurred at Fatunbi’s House, Ita-Oshin, Abeokuta.
He advised residents to adhere strictly to emergency safety measures to prevent avoidable disasters.
Mr. Durojaye, urged all households to ensure that electrical appliances were switched off when not in use, while gas cylinders should be properly maintained and kept in well-ventilated areas.
He maintained that the administration of Prince Dapo Abiodun remained committed to providing succour to victims of disasters across the State.
Speaking on behalf of the occupants in the affected building, Mrs. Silifat Balogun, explained that they received an alert about the incident at about 1:00 am, but the source of the fire could not be immediately identified.
She noted that the incident had rendered many occupants homeless and appealed for the intervention of the Federal, State and Local Governments to help the victims get back on their feet.
