BREAKING: Gunmen Abduct Bayo Adelabu’s Sister and Twin Children in Ibadan

The younger sister of former Minister of Power and All Progressives Congress (APC) governorship aspirant in Oyo State, Bayo Adelabu, has been kidnapped alongside her twin children in Ibadan.

The abduction occurred on Wednesday morning at Elewura in the Challenge area of Ibadan South-West Local Government Area.

Confirming the incident, Adelabu’s media aide, Femi Awogboro, said the victims were attacked while leaving their residence and heading towards the expressway.

“Adelabu’s younger sister and her twin children, Peter and Paul, were kidnapped this morning by unknown gunmen at Elewura, Challenge, Ibadan,” Awogboro said.

“The family members were on their way to the expressway when they were ambushed and taken away by the kidnappers.”

The incident adds to growing concerns over insecurity in Oyo State.

In May 2026, more than 40 teachers and students were abducted during a coordinated attack in Ahoro-Esiele, Oriire Local Government Area.

Similarly, APC chieftain Wale Oriade was kidnapped in December 2025 from his office at PJ Square Shopping Complex along the Akala Expressway in Ibadan. Witnesses said his attackers arrived in a blue Nissan Micra, forcibly seized him, and fled the scene.

Reacting to the latest abduction, the Oyo State Police Command spokesperson, Olayinka Ayanlade, said he could not immediately verify the incident.

“I cannot independently verify this for now, but please hold on,” Ayanlade said in a text message on Wednesday.

Security agencies are yet to provide further details on the whereabouts of the victims or efforts being made to secure their release.
