MPP & UD Celebrates Engr. Salaam’s Dedicated Service at Pen Down Ceremony

 


The Commissioner for Physical Planning and Urban Development, TPl. Olatunji Odunlami has described the outgoing Permanent Secretary of the Ministry, Engr. Sakirudeen Salaam, as the most outstanding Permanent Secretary he had worked with since his assumption in office several years back.

This was made known by TPl. Odunlami during the pen down ceremony organised in honour of the retired top civil servant by the Ministry at Oke Mosan, Abeokuta, as he eulogized Engr. Salaam for his respectfulness, dedication, humility and commitment to duty throughout his service in the Ministry, noting that the retired Permanent Secretary quickly understood the workings of town planning and adapted effectively to the responsibilities of the Ministry shortly after his posting.

The Commissioner stated that Engr. Salaam distinguished himself through his calm disposition, professionalism and sense of responsibility which endeared him to both management and members of staff.

According to him, the retired Permanent Secretary remained focused and cooperative in the discharge of his duties, saying that he would be greatly missed.

Describing him further as a simple and contented individual, the Commissioner commended Engr. Salaam for living a modest life and maintaining cordial relationships with everyone within the Ministry wishing him success and fulfilment in his future endeavours after retirement from the civil service.

Other members of staff who spoke during the ceremony also showered encomiums on the retiring Permanent Secretary, describing him as a humble, disciplined and responsible administrator who carried out his duties with sincerity and dedication. They noted that his leadership style promoted unity and cooperation among workers in the Ministry.

The atmosphere at the ceremony was filled with emotions as Engr. Salaam responded by expressing gratitude to the almighty God for preserving his life and for granting him the grace to attain the age of sixty, just as he appreciated the Commissioner and members of staff of the Ministry who took turns to speak about the good qualities they imbibed from Engr. Salaam.
